If you’re anything like me, you LOVE Oat Milk and have a love for brands like Oatly and Chobani. But, these plant-based milks can get terribly expensive. So, how about making your own Oat Milk at home? for LESS!
There’s also a lot of fun in making your own Oat Milk and seeing the fast results in your own kitchen.
One of the most common complaints about making Oat Milk is that it comes out really slimy. After some research, I learned a way to avoid creating slimy Oat Milk and I’m here to share it with you all.
Note: Do not use tap water to make Oat Milk, filtered water is best.
Tip: Using a Nut Milk Bag over a strainer is a better choice because using a nut milk bag avoids slimy oat milk, whereas a strainer will encourage it.
Ingredients
1 cup rolled oats
2 capsule of Digestive Enzymes
4 cups of Filtered Water (ice cold)
2 tbsps Jamaican Vanilla Extract
2 tbsps Maple Syrup
3 tbsp Cinnamon
Nut Milk Bag
Mason Jar or Milk Jar
Instructions
In a blender, add your rolled oats, digestive enzyme capsules, your 4 cups of filtered water, Vanilla extract, maple syrup and cinnamon.
Blend for 20-30 seconds (no less, no more).
Once the oats are finished blending, pour them into a nut milk bag, place over a bowl.
Gently squeeze the oat milk out of the nut milk bag. Start squeezing from the top of the bag to the bottom. Tip: Do NOT over squeeze and stop squeezing once you feel the milk coming out could be slimy.
Pour out your oat milk into a glass container and enjoy within 4 days.
